Biography
Sergeant Navigator/Radar Operator Deryck Stephen Rastall graduated from Shoreditch College in 1941. Not much is recorded on the death of Sgt Rastall other than he and another RAF Sergeant were returning from a training flight and crashed. Both died instantly. Sgt Rastall was originally buried at the British Cemetery, Marsala, but is now at the Catania War Cemetery, Sicily. His headstone reads, “Always in our thoughts, Loved by all who knew him, Pop, mum [sic], Bernard and Mary”. He was 22.
