Biography

Second Lieutenant Lionel Frank Vinicombe was born in Constantinople, the youngest son of Charle and Louisa Vinicombe. He attended George Watson’s College in Edinburgh and attended King’s College London in 1907 in the “faculty of science”. At the outbreak of war he was a teacher at Borough Road College and enlisted in 1914. Vinicombe served with the Queen’s Own, Royal West Kent Regiment, and died on 29 June 1916 whilst out with a working party.
