Biography

Second Lieutenant Matthew Southern attended Borough Road College for two years before graduating with an Intermediate Science London. He enlisted in the 10th Battalion East Yorkshire Regiment (Hull Commercials pals Battalion) in late 1915. He rose to Corporal and was ten commissioned at a later date. Southern was 30 when he died on 12 September 1917.
