Biography
Richard Olley Tipple is the only civilian listed on this memorial. He graduated from Shoreditch College in 1931. Exact details of his death are unknown, but it is possible he died while observing test balloons at Exeter Airport. One of the balloons veered off course and crashed into Mr. Tipple. It is also possible a Pilot was killed as well, reports differ. He is buried at Bridgewater, Rural District.
