Biography

Lieutenant Robert Nelson Jones attended Borough Road College for three years, at the college he was made a prefect, and he graduated as a Triarian with a BSc in 1907. He is listed as being destined for a school in Stroud, Gloucestershire. He was assistant master at Marling School, Stroud and later at the Grammar School, Kettering. He enlisted on 5 July 1915 into the 4th Battalion Northamptonshire Regiment. Jones was 30 when he was shot by a sniper whilst leading an attack on 31 July 1917.
