Biography

Lance Corporal William Kennedy was the son of John and Jeanie Kennedy. He attended Borough Road College for two years, where he was a keen cricketer and swimmer. Kennedy was also an amateur footballer for his local club Grays before signing for West Ham United in 1910. He scored on his debut match against Brighton and Hove Albion. Kennedy made 23 appearances for the team. Owing to a knee injury sustained during a FA Cup tie against Middlesborough, Kennedy left the sport in 1912. After graduating Borough Road College he is listed as being destined for war service as a Private in the London Scottish regiment. Kennedy was killed on 13 October 1915.
