The transition to University life definitely has its challenges. The Brunel Mentor Buddies Scheme supports new students through their first term at Brunel. Mentor Buddies are trained and influential Brunel students who will use their own personal experiences of being a student to answer your questions, support you and direct you to available support services at Brunel.
Support from a Mentor Buddy might include:
- Guide and support with situational queries such as where/how do I submit my assisgnments?
- Help you to adjust and deal with the 'culture shock' of a new environment.
- Guidance on how to achieve a good study/life balance.
- Making friends and getting involved with student societies.
- Finding services on campus such as Counselling, Mental Wellbeing and Careers Advice and Gudiance.
- Becoming familiar with university processes
- Help using e-vision, Blackboard and your network email account
- Finding out about local transport, getting about, places of interest & things to do in the area.
The scheme is run through Brunel Volunteers. To become a Brunel Mentor Buddy (existing students) or to request a Mentor Buddy (new students) please get in touch or email brunelvolunteers@brunel.ac.uk for further information.
