Afghanistan and Central Asian Association is an organisation that supports London's refugee community and the Afghan diaspora in the United Kingdom, providing a wide range of social, cultural, and educational services in order to break down language and cultural barriers. The organisation has a long-standing integration agenda, with campaigns for human rights and democracy.

Details of the Volunteering Opportunity:

In this role, you will assist the ACAA’s free legal clinic providing free legal advice, consultation, and limited representations to refugees and migrants supported by the organisation. As a Legal Affairs Volunteer, you will be able to apply your knowledge of law, legal procedures, and regulations to real-world situations and explore family, housing, and immigration law.

Typical duties include:

  • To act as a point of contact for law firms providing pro bono services to the ACAA’s beneficiaries
  • To follow up with law firms about legal support provided to clients between every legal advice session
  • Administrative assistance for the ACAA’s legal services
  • To write and proofread blog posts and articles for the ACAA

Please note, the Brunel Volunteers team would like you to commit to a minimum of 2-3 months.
