Carers Trust Hillingdon is a local charity operating support services for unpaid carers living or caring in the London Borough of Hillingdon. The organisation aims to improve support and recognition for people who are caring for a family member or friend who is ill, frail, disabled, or has mental health or addiction problems.

Details of the Volunteering Opportunity:

In this role, you will provide Maths and English tutoring, as well as guidance, support, and encouragement to young carers who take on significant caring responsibilities. As a Young Carers Mentor Volunteer, you will learn mentoring and coaching skills, leadership skills, and time management skills.

Typical duties include:

  • Providing consistent mentoring for an individual young person as agreed

  • Establishing a trusting and supportive relationship with the young carers

  • Creating a safe space for young carers to share their experience and concerns

  • Helping young carers to make informed decisions relating to caring responsibilities, education, and personal development

Please note, the Brunel Volunteers team would like you to commit to a minimum of 2-3 months.
