The Society of Occupational Medicine (SOM) is a charity promoting and advancing the practice of occupational medicine and a forum for exchanging ideas and networking opportunities. The organisation works with the government, the healthcare community, health charities, and other bodies to promote a healthier workforce and provides continued professional development and education for doctors and healthcare professionals working in occupational health.

Details of the Volunteering Opportunity:

In this role, you will support the organisation with administrative tasks, including tasks related to SOM communications and events. As a Communication and Event Volunteer, you will learn a set of skills such as writing, copywriting, social media management, graphic design basics, public speaking, and event management skills.

Typical duties include:

  • Providing support for administrative functions related to SOM Communications and events
  • Managing delegate registration for conferences and events, maintaining precise delegate records, and configuring events on platforms like Eventbrite
  • Creating and sending certificates and event receipts via email, as well as forwarding invoices to event delegates
  • Updating the OH Nurse Connect mailing list, ensuring accurate and current contact information

Please note, the Brunel Volunteers team would like you to commit to a minimum of 2-3 months.
