Team Up - Volunteer Tutor

Details of the Charity:

Team Up is a charity working to reduce the widening attainment gap in education and increase social mobility by helping underperforming disadvantaged pupils double their expected progress and improve their prospects. The organisation strives to break down barriers and create equal educational opportunities for all by offering free tuition in Maths and English, ultimately contributing to a more equitable and promising future for these students.

Details of the Volunteering Opportunity:

In this role, you will help the teachers by providing educational support and assistance to individuals who need help with specific subjects or skills. As a Volunteer tutor, you will acquire skills such as patience & empathy, resilience, adaptability, and time management.

Typical duties include:

  • Conducting weekly 60/90 minute tuition sessions for a small group of 2-4 pupils from disadvantaged backgrounds
  • Utilising provided lesson plans and materials to develop engaging and inspiring tutoring sessions
  • Offering support, encouragement, and guidance to students in addition to academic tutoring
  • Creating a nurturing environment that fosters student motivation and growth

Please note, the Brunel Volunteers team would like you to commit to a minimum of 2-3 months.
