Circle South East - Circle Volunteer

Details of the Charity:

Circles South East (Circles SE) is a charity working for and with local communities across the South East & London to prevent and reduce the occurrences of sexual abuse through prevention, rehabilitation, education and safeguarding. The organisation support people with sexually harmful behaviours to change as majority of people with convictions for sexual offences leave prison and return to communities where the stigma attached to their offending makes it difficult to reintegrate.

Details of the Volunteering Opportunity:

In this role, you will help to prevent sexual abuse and reduce re-offending through circle discussions or meetings to promote open communication, active listening, and a sense of community so people with sexually harmful behaviors can reintegrate into their communities. As a Circle Volunteer, you will develop your active listening, effective communication, and problem-solving skills.

Typical duties include:

  • Organising and leading circle discussions, ensuring that circle guidelines are followed
  • Ensuring everyone gets an opportunity to speak and share their opinions
  • Establishing a safe and respectful environment for participants to share their experiences and thoughts
  • Maintaining strict confidentiality about what is shared within the circle

Please note, the Brunel Volunteers team would like you to commit to a minimum of 2-3 months.
