Different Strokes - Group Classes Volunteer

Details of the Charity:

The Different Strokes is a charity run by experts in stroke recovery and rehabilitation as they are younger stroke survivors, family members, or people with a close personal connection to stroke. The organisation provides services for younger stroke survivors and information so they can have a voice within the government for better standards and improved understanding.

Details of the Volunteering Opportunity:

In this role, you will assist the organisation with the coordination and delivery of group-based educational and recreational activities for participants. As a Group Classes Volunteer, you learn a set of skills such as communication, public speaking, active listening, adaptability, time management, problem-solving, and creativity.

Typical duties include:

  • Helping set up the classroom or activity space before the class starts
  • Greeting participants as they arrive, creating a friendly and welcoming environment
  • Assisting with serving tea and coffee and other refreshments 
  • Offering one-on-one assistance to participants in chair-based exercises

Please note, the Brunel Volunteers team would like you to commit to a minimum of 2-3 months.
