Details of the Charity:

Hounslow Action For Youth is a charity designed to prevent disadvantaged and vulnerable children and young people from engaging in crime or anti-social behaviour by providing stimulating activities and personalised support to improve their education and learning, identifying and encouraging their strengths and passions so that they can become active citizens, reach their full potential and have better chances in life. The organisation operates across the London Borough of Hounslow but target  three disadvantaged wards: Feltham, Bedfont, Hanworth. 

Details of the Volunteering Opportunity:

In this role, you will contribute to the development and delivery of personalised, social, and educational activities for young people who is dealing with challenges related to race, identity, mental health, and more. As a Youth Mentor, you'll acquire valuable skills in youth development, leadership, and community engagement.

Typical duties include:

  • Participating in the design and implementation of diverse activities for the benefit of young community members
  • Ensuring the physical and emotional well-being of young participants during activities
  • Coordinating and supervising transportation arrangements, ensuring the safe and timely arrival of young people
  • Fostering a culture of open dialogue, actively encouraging communication and feedback from young participants

Please note, the Brunel Volunteers team would like you to commit to a minimum of 2-3 months.
