The Hillingdon Hospital is an acute and specialist services provider in North West London, close to Heathrow Airport. The organisation provides the majority of services from the Trust and it is the only acute hospital in Hillingdon with a busy Accident and Emergency, inpatients, day surgery, and outpatient clinics.
Details of the Volunteering Opportunity:
In this role, you will offer one-to-one companionship and support to people who are in our hospital. As a Ward Companion, you will enhance your communication, active listening, customer service and attention to detail skills.
Typical duties include:
- Escorting patients to other parts of the hospital and assisting with providing hot or cold drinks and snacks, in consultation with staff
- Assisting with activity sessions, which could include arts and crafts, puzzles, and crosswords
- Helping patients manage the hospital entertainment system and shopping requests.
- Encouraging patients to complete surveys, comments card which seeks feedback about the hospital stay
Please note, this organisation requires a minimum 6 months commitment for 4 hours per week in addition to two references and a DBS check (fully funded).
