Doorstep Charity - Online Reading Volunteer

Details of the Charity:

Doorstep Library is a community-focused charity dedicated to bringing the gift of books and the joy of reading directly into the homes of children across London who need our support. For us, the ‘happy ever after’ is when we know the power of literacy and the joy of reading are helping a child change their own story for good.

Details of the Volunteering Opportunity:

Doorstep Library Online Reading Volunteers visit the same families online via Zoom every week to share their love of reading with the children they visit. Volunteers work in pairs when visiting families online and pick e-books and give recommendations for each child. Through our long-term approach, our volunteers build trusting relationships with families, helping to connect them with the community and signposting to additional sources of local support. We are there to support children and families who need us most.

Our online projects run on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4.30 pm to 6.30 pm. We have a weekly volunteer opportunity who will volunteer every week during term time or a stand-in opportunity. Stand-in Volunteers fill in for when regular volunteers aren't available and volunteer every 3 weeks
