Otermans Institute - Research Volunteer

Details of the Charity:

Otermans Institute (OI) is a social enterprise providing transferable and employability skills training across Iraq, Nepal, Bangladesh, and India. The organisation offers physical training and virtual teaching through artificial intelligence to students that were forced out of school due to the pandemic, are in extremely remote locations, and have been affected by violence and warlike refugees in United Nations camps. The company`s profits are donated to the NHS and front-line services.

Details of the Volunteering Opportunity:

In this role, you will support the research division of the Otermans Institute with research regarding employability skills, teaching, learning, online pedagogy, and artificial intelligence in teaching and learning. As a Research Volunteer, you will elevate your research skills, mastering methodologies for gathering, analyzing, and interpreting data, while immersing yourself in a relevant matter. 

Typical duties include:

  • Collecting and creating data (e.g. survey, focus group, interviews, literature, user testing)
  • Writing pieces and proofreading written work
  • Conducting a systematic literature review, analysing and summarising it 
  • Brainstorming ideas for product development 

Please note, the Brunel Volunteers team would like you to commit to a minimum of 2-3 months.
