Compass Theatre - Costume Volunteer

Details of the Charity:

Providing residents of the London Borough of Hillingdon with subsidised culture and arts spaces and venues, for producers of public arts activity which is for the artistic or educational benefit of Hillingdon residents, on a non-profit basis.


Details of the Volunteering Opportunity:

Compass Costumes operate from the 1st floor of the theatre, in 5 ajoining rooms, accessed via a spiral staircase. The team of volunteers are based her on Wednesday evenings, Saturday mornings and at other times in the week, convenient to them and staff on site.  They undertake the hiring out and putting back of costumes to external hirers, along with general sorting and thinning out of the costume stock on site, and are working towards building a digital database of all costume stock on site.  

Skills Required:

  • An interest in costumes, clothing and theatrical wardrobe pursuits are required.

  • An organised and tidy person that understands the challenges faced by those producing costumes for shows on a small budget

  • Prior experience an advantage, but not necessary.

Additional Benefits:

  • Theatre volunteers may request up to 2 free tickets from most shows (excluded are those raising funds for the Mayor of Hillingdon’s Charities and those raising funds for the Friends of Ickenham Hall, who raise funds for the fixtures and fittings of Compass Theatre. Tickets are limited to 10 free volunteers per show, 2 per volunteer, first come, first served.
  • A free tea or coffee per shift is also provided.
  • Volunteering Hours to go towards the Brunel Volunteers Awards
