Tutor the Nation is a charity empowering young people in the United Kingdom by providing them with free online tutoring. The organisation helps students gain confidence and curiosity for learning through personalised educational support focusing on building both subject-specific knowledge and broader cognitive skills to empower the youth with the tools they need to succeed academically and beyond.

Details of the Volunteering Opportunity:

In this role, you will provide one-to-one online tutoring to disadvantaged GCSE and A-level students. As a Volunteer Tutor, you will learn mentoring and coaching skills, leadership skills, and time management skills.

Typical duties include:

  • Delivering one-to-one online tutoring sessions to disadvantaged GCSE and A-level students, focusing on specific subjects or topics
  • Creating learning plans for each student, addressing their academic strengths, weaknesses, and learning objectives
  • Helping students grasp challenging concepts, clarifying doubts, and providing guidance on coursework, assignments, and exam preparation
  • Acting as a mentor, offering guidance, motivation, and support to students in navigating their studies and educational journey 

Please note, the Brunel Volunteers team would like you to commit to a minimum of 2-3 months.
