West Drayton Library is one of seventeen Hillingdon Borough libraries committed to the passion for reading and providing trusted information to enrich and empower the community. The organisation offers access to a range of reading materials, reference resources, databases, and articles, as well as e-learning tools such as a free digital library for members.

Details of the Volunteering Opportunity:

In this role, you will support and guide young children in learning how to code. As a Code Club Volunteer, you will improve your communication skills, encourage critical thinking, and develop leadership qualities by guiding young learners to explore the world of coding. 

Typical duties include:

  • Facilitating code club sessions for children aged 9 to 13, creating a welcoming and engaging learning environment
  • Teaching students fundamental coding concepts, helping them grasp the principles behind programming and computational thinking
  • Guiding students through Code Club projects using step-by-step instructions within Scratch Software
  • Providing constructive feedback and assessments to students identifying areas for improvement in their coding skills

Please note, the Brunel Volunteers team would like you to commit to a minimum of 2-3 months.
