Hillingdon Library service invites everyone to share and enjoy our passion for reading, our commitment to providing trusted information, and enriching and empowering our communities.
We will:
- Be a gateway to new reading experiences
- Provide access to up-to-date, unbiased, and reliable information
- Present opportunities for independent lifelong learning
- Offer excellent customer care in attractive, welcoming, and accessible libraries
- Be innovative with technology and the internet, allowing library users to access our services and communicate with us in a variety of ways
Details of the Volunteering Opportunity:
- Commitment for a one-hour session weekly over a period of 6 weeks either on a Saturday or one day after school between 3.45 to 4.45 pm
- To run a code club for children aged between 9 to 13 years old
- To work through Code Club projects using a step-by-step guide with Scratch software
Skills Required:
- Good general IT knowledge
- Ability to explain tasks simply and clearly
- Ability to communicate and connect with children
- To be able to facilitate and lead sessions with young people
- Ability to be flexible
Additional Benefits:
- Limited free online training on how to run a code club provided by Futurelearn
- Volunteering Hours go towards the Brunel Volunteers Awards
