Research Interests
My research focusses on the safe, sustainable and cost-effective production of the compounds we need using industrial biotechnology. Examples of the areas I work include:
- Design, scale-up and modelling of bioreactors
- Development of advanced computational tools to characterise bioreactor performance
- Hydrodynamics of bioreactors (and other gas-liquid systems)
- Production of high-value compounds using microalgae
- Bioprocess development
- Adding value to ‘waste’ streams
