Research Interests

My research focusses on the safe, sustainable and cost-effective production of the compounds we need using industrial biotechnology. Examples of the areas I work include:

• Design, scale-up and modelling of bioreactors
• Development of advanced computational tools to characterise bioreactor performance
• Hydrodynamics of bioreactors (and other gas-liquid systems)
• Production of high-value compounds using microalgae
• Bioprocess development
• Adding value to ‘waste’ streams
