Research supervision
Kate would welcome research students working on gender/sexuality in relation to world-literature, materialist feminism and queer marxism - please do feel free to contact me directly to discuss your ideas for 2027 onwards.
Until recently, Kate was on the supervisory team for a range of PhDs, including a literature project analysing Kamila Shamsie's work, and a creative writing project on Middle-Eastern fantasy. In 2023/4, she hosted a visiting PhD project under Brazil's Doutorado Sanduíche on the gothic short story. For 2025/6, she is first supervisor on a Techne-funded PhD project on the writing of Dalit food-systems as resistance.
2021-2026: 2nd supervisor (1st for Critical) at Brunel on a Creative Writing Phd on representations of trauma in Nepali fiction; to viva shortly.

2020-2024: 2nd supervisor at Brunel on a Creative Writing PhD entitled 'Your Voice or Mine? Exploring White Saviourism and Representation in Contemporary Fiction'.
2016-2021: 1st supervisor at Anglia Ruskin University of a successful PhD (part-time) on ‘Vincentian Literature in the Era of Independence 1940-1980'.
