Kate would welcome research students working on gender/sexuality in relation to world-literature, materialist feminism and queer marxism - please do feel free to contact me directly to discuss your ideas.

Kate is currently on the supervisory team for a range of PhDs, including a literature project analysing Kamila Shamsie's work; and three creative writing projects on maternal ambivalence; representations of trauma in South Asian fiction; and Middle-Eastern fantasy. In 2023/4, she hosted a visiting PhD project under Brazil's Doutorado Sanduíche on the gothic short story. For 2025/6, she is first supervisor on a Techne-funded PhD project on the writing of Dalit food-systems as resistance.

2020-2024: Kate was second supervisor at Brunel on a Creative Writing PhD project entitled 'Your Voice or Mine? Exploring White Saviourism and Representation in Contemporary Fiction'.

2016-2021: Kate was first supervisor at Anglia Ruskin University of a successful PhD project (part-time) on ‘Vincentian Literature in the Era of Independence 1940-1980'.
