Mr Niki Chantzis
PhD Student
Membership and affiliation
I have actively contributed to a range of academic and community initiatives. As a British Red Cross Volunteer (2020–2021), I participated in community-based outreach and support services, promoting humanitarian values and crisis response. In 2021, I served as an Academic Mentor with CoachBright UK, supporting underrepresented students through structured mentoring and academic guidance. At Brunel Law School, I remain an engaged member of the alumni and PhD community, contributing as a former student, postgraduate ambassador, and content creator. Additionally, I contributed to the 18th Annual Conference of the Italian Society of Law & Economics (SIDE) as a co-author and presenter, engaging with international academic audiences in the fields of law and behavioural economics.
Media interests
I am particularly interested in the intersection of media, cinema, and the law, with a focus on how these domains influence identity and justice. My academic and creative work engages with LGBTQ+ storytelling in global film and television, the role of media in shaping public perception of minority rights, and the ethical and legal implications of representation in cultural narratives. I also explore literary and cinematic approaches to trauma, identity, and dignity, alongside creative writing and screenwriting that address legal and social justice themes. In addition, I am the author of an upcoming literary novel and film, Déjà Vu (2025), which explores personal trauma through poetic storytelling. I maintain a strong interest in film ethics, international media regulation, and the evolving landscape of queer cinema.
