Topics
My research area is Numerical Analysis, specifically the development, analysis and implementation of efficient and effective methods for the Numerical Solution of Partial Differential Equations.
Methods of interest:
- Boundary integral equation methods
- Finite element methods
Typical applications of interest:
- Scattering problems, arising from, e.g., acoustic or electromagnetic wave propagation (see, e.g., https://doi.org/10.1017/S0962492912000037).
- Wind-generated particle-fluid flow fields, arising from, e.g., modelling helicopter brownout (see, e.g., https://doi.org/10.1017/jfm.2024.740).
- Fluid flow in porous media, arising from, e.g., reservoir simulation (see, e.g., https://doi.org/10.1093/qjmam/hbs022).
Associated computational problems:
- Quadrature methods for oscillatory integration
- Physics informed neural networks
- Computational fluid dynamics
I would be very pleased to hear from prospective PhD students who may potentially be interested in working in any of the areas listed above.
