Our legacy

The Centre for Pollution Research and Policy builds on a distinguished legacy of research excellence in understanding and addressing complex environmental pollution challenges. Founded under the leadership of Professor Andreas Kortenkamp, the Centre's foundations are rooted in pioneering research on chemical mixtures, environmental contaminants and their impacts on human health and the environment. This legacy has been further shaped by the scholarship and leadership of distinguished academics, including Professor John Sumpter, Dr Edwin Routledge and Dr Abdul Chaudhary, supported by the technical and experimental expertise of Dr Nicola Beresford.

Today, we carry this legacy forward through interdisciplinary research that brings together environmental science, engineering, policy and systems thinking to address emerging and persistent pollution challenges. We remain committed to building on the foundations established by those who came before us while developing new approaches that respond to the environmental challenges of tomorrow.
