Professor Anne Cranny-Francis: Mentoring for Research Staff

As part of her visit to Brunel University London, Professor Anne Cranny-Francis will be holding a mentoring session for research staff. These mentoring meetings focus on the development of your research career and/or research.  Topics that might be discussed include, but aren’t limited, to the following:

  • maintaining motivation and putting the passion back into your work
  • your C.V.: (re)presenting yourself & building a career; how to communicate the best about yourself and your work-life
  • publishing in journals, the process and the practice: how journals work & the process of editorship; how to become an editor & what you learn; how to deal with reviews and use them to your advantage; learning as you write
  • book publishing:  finishing a book and finding a publisher – and in what order; finding your rhythm; relating this to your interests and your life
  • timemanagement and planning:  developing a practice that works for you; working effectively, not longer
  • grant applications: developing a project; writing a grant application

Please bring the following to the meeting:

  • a current C.V.
  • ideas for research and publication you want to discuss
  • future plans
  • any questions or concerns
All welcome but please register attendance with Jo Lakey.
