The Entrepreneur Hub is delighted to announce that Brunel University of London has been awarded a £3,000 prize fund from the Engineering and Science Business Fellowship (ESBF) to support student innovation at the Brunel Software Innovation: Entrepreneur Hub Awards during the 2026 - 2027 academic year.
The funding will be used to recognise outstanding Computer Science students whose final-year software projects demonstrate exceptional entrepreneurial potential. Alongside technical excellence, the awards celebrate innovation, commercial viability, societal impact and entrepreneurial thinking, encouraging students to consider how their ideas can become real-world solutions and future ventures.
The annual Software Innovation Showcase brings together students, academic staff and industry professionals to explore innovative software solutions developed throughout the academic year. Approximately 60 students take part in the showcase each year and are eligible to compete for the ESBF-supported Entrepreneur Hub Awards.
Dr Mahir Arzoky, Lecturer in the Department of Computer Science at Brunel University London shares, “This funding is a fantastic opportunity to recognise and celebrate the creativity and innovation of our Computer Science students through the Brunel Software Innovation Showcase. It gives students a valuable platform to take their ideas beyond the classroom, demonstrate their technical skills and think about the real-world and commercial potential of the solutions they develop. Recognising innovation through prizes provides an additional incentive for students to challenge themselves and gives well-deserved recognition to outstanding work. We’re delighted to have the support of ESBF and look forward to seeing the ideas our students bring to the Showcase.”
This funding strengthens Brunel's commitment to fostering entrepreneurship across STEM disciplines, providing students with additional recognition and encouragement to translate their technical expertise into impactful innovations.
We look forward to celebrating the next generation of Brunel entrepreneurs at the Brunel Software Innovation Showcase in March 2027 and sharing the achievements of this year's award winners.
