Brunel Alumni learn business fundamentals through the Innovation Hub

From 5th-7th August a group of over 30 Brunel Alumni returned to campus to learn the fundamentals of starting a business by signing up to take part in a 3-day residential workshop organised by Barry Hodges-White, Entrepreneurship and Employability Consultant for the Brunel Innovation Hub.

The 3-day workshop featured both internal and external speakers and kicked off with a session on Business Planning, followed by Regulations and a talk from the founder of Naked Creativity and former Brunel Alumnus of the Year, Jordan Chitty, discussing his personal business journey. Rupert Knights from Saunders and Dolleymore finished the day off by covering Risk Management. Jawad Syed one of the delegates, was impressed with the quality of information on offer and said “All the business workshops speakers were very professional and experts in their own business area and the session also provided me with the excellent opportunity to meet with other like-minded people with the similar business goals and objectives.”

The delegates then had the opportunity to focus on team building and networking skills with Team Dynamics Trainer Sylvia Baldock and take part in an interactive session on ‘Visualising the Future’, with business consultant, Joolz Lewis. The week rounded off with a dynamic talk by Geoff Langston Managing Director at Arizion on customer relations and a look at using social media in business with Brunel’s Communications Manager, Alex Buchanan.

The 3-day Business workshop was resounding success as alumnus, Nabila El-Zanaty, commented, “I came away from the event feeling more inspired and determined to make my business a bigger success. I learnt from the speakers as well as my fellow alumni members and would highly recommend the Innovation Hub to anyone interested in growing or developing their business ideas.”
