Master's work placements | Brunel Business School

Brunel Business School was one of the first business schools in the UK to introduce postgraduate placements back in 2011, and they still remain a core part of what we do today.

A master’s degree can help shape your career direction. But at Brunel Business School, you’ll go further, with placement routes, employer exposure and networking that help you apply your knowledge in real workplaces, in the UK and beyond.

What you can expect

A placement can be the bridge between your studies and your career. Our placement options are designed to build your confidence, skills and professional network. They give you the chance to:

  • apply what you’ve learned in a real business setting
  • build connections with employers and industry professionals
  • gain experience that helps you stand out in a competitive job market
  • explore different career paths before you graduate

How placements work

After you complete your taught modules and dissertation, you’ll have the opportunity to take a short or long placement as part of your course.

Placements are competitive - and that’s part of the value. You’ll take an active role in applying for opportunities, just as you would in the graduate job market. But you won’t be on your own. Our academic staff and Student Professional Development team work together, so you’ll be ready to take this next step with confidence

We'll support you at every stage, including:

    • career preparation and planning
    • CV and application guidance
    • interview practice
    • employer events and networking
    • help with your placement search

What kind of roles could this lead to?

A placement can take you in more directions than you might expect. You can use your placement to build experience in many different areas, helping you explore options and build skills that employers value. Previous students have taken up roles such as:

There’s no one path to take once you graduate, and you don’t need to have it all mapped out from day one. But a placement gives you the chance to explore your interests, build confidence, and see what working in different roles is really like. It might confirm your career choice, or you might discover something new. Either way, you’ll leave with clearer direction and experience to support your next step.
