Dr Ghaffar will help grow a new Elsevier gold open access journal

Seyed Ghaffar Results in Engineering (Elsevier)
Dr Seyed Ghaffar of Brunel's Civil and Environmental Engineering department was appointed in August this year as Associate Editor of Results in Engineering journal, established by leading journal publisher Elsevier.

The journal - which was established in January 2019 - publishes papers on all fundamental and interdisciplinary areas of engineering. This includes Mechanical, Aerospace, Civil and Environmental, Chemical, Electrical, Energy, Industrial and Manufacturing.

As well as full research papers, the journal welcomes submissions of Micro–articles. This article type allows academics to publish pieces of research describing a new method or instrument, concepts or design studies; giving the research community access to valuable new knowledge.

Last week the editorial board members met in Amsterdam to take account of the journals progress and build on its agenda of providing scientifically sound, technically correct and impactful new knowledge to the engineering community.
Dr Ghaffar says, “I am honoured to be an Associate Editor of Results in Engineering where the aim is to build a broad scope engineering journal with sound science.”

Dr Ghaffar is a highly active Chartered Engineer (CEng) and a member of the Institution of Civil Engineers. He has made significant contributions to research in the field of Civil Engineering material sciences and implementation of innovative technologies in the construction industry (such as Additive Manufacturing, i.e. 3D printing). He is the leader of Additive Manufacturing Technology in Construction research group, which focuses on achieving circular economy goals of sustainable construction through advanced robotic 3D printers.
