As part of Brunel’s Film and Television community, you will be joining a diverse group of students who come from across the UK and from around the globe. Brunel is located in west London, an area that has long occupied a unique place in the UK’s creative ecosystem. With major production facilities like Pinewood and Shepperton just down the road and dozens of smaller studios and post-production facilities within easy reach, we are uniquely well placed to provide opportunities for you to make connections in the creative sector that will help set you up for an easy transition after your graduation.   

Brunel also has a rich screen heritage with its Uxbridge campus having featured in numerous films and television shows, ranging from Stanley Kubrick’s dystopian masterpiece A Clockwork Orange to the Netflix drama The Crown and the Channel 4 comedy Big Boys. Who knows? Maybe Brunel’s distinctive Brutalist architecture will provide the backdrop for your next big project!

BAFTA Albert

BAFTA 

Brunel has a partnership with BAFTA’s Albert, the leading screen programme for environmental sustainability. You will receive lessons on Sustainable Filmmaking from the first year of your degree which includes how to use Albert’s Carbon Calculator to measure your film’s carbon footprint. In your final year of study, you’ll have the option to submit one of your films to be formally assessed for an Albert qualification.

ScreenCraft Works

ScreenCraft Works is an international community of cross-border mentoring, talks and networking, supporting underrepresented production and post talent. The Film and TV team at Brunel are founding partners of this internationally recognised organisation, and as such a small number of places on the mentoring scheme are guaranteed to Brunel Film and TV students.

In addition, ScreenCraft Works offers other opportunities to network with film professionals around the world.

Wonder Women

WONDER

Founded in 2016 by TV presenter and Brunel alumna Ria Hebden, Wonder Women is a networking community that champions diversity and inclusion in the film and television industries. Free tickets for its annual conference at the British Film Institute make it possible for Brunel students to make connections with influential and inspirational women from across the creative sector.

International

You will be eligible to spend the second semester of your second year on exchange at York University in Toronto, one of the most important centres of film production in North America. The exchange is an opportunity not only to study at a top Canadian university but also to gain industry experience and to immerse yourself in Toronto’s vibrant film culture. 

The university also offers a range of short-term mobility opportunities that allow students to spend some time overseas.  

Studio Brunel

You’ll have the opportunity to become a part of Studio Brunel, our established student-run production house which is supported by the Arts and Humanities Department but open to students across the university. 

Studio Brunel is a platform for students to create their own performances and films outside of the classroom, supporting the projects through to completion. Productions and performances take place on our London campus and are open to the public.

Brunel Arts 

Finding and pursing interests outside of your course goes a long way to boosting your experience while you study with us. Brunel Arts organises weekly classes, events, concerts and productions throughout the year which include singing, acting, creative writing, music theory, digital photography, oil painting, life drawing, pottery and guitar groups.

Brunel Arts is open to everyone, which makes it a great opportunity to meet new people, rediscover a passion, or learn a new skill outside of your day-to-day curriculum.
