One-to-One Academic English Language Consultations (Online via MS Teams)

Need help improving your academic English? Our friendly and supportive 30-minute consultations are designed to help you develop clearer, more effective language for academic and professional contexts. You can get support with assignments, presentations, academic papers, and job applications.

2025-2026 Dates:

  • 29 September 2025 – 19 December 2025
  • 6 January 2026 – 10 April 2026
  • 28 April 2026 – 28 August 2026

You should book  no more than one hour a week on this booking system. If you require more than 1 hour, please email languagecentre@brunel.ac.uk

In your consultation, you can work on:

  • Language clarity and accuracy
  • Academic style and tone
  • Structuring ideas effectively
  • Using academic sources appropriately (including referencing)
  • Expressing critical thinking clearly
  • Improving spoken clarity and pronunciation

Please note this is not a proof-reading service. It is against University policy for us to correct all language errors.

Your work should be emailed to the consultant one working day in advance so the consultant has enough time to prepare. For each half-hour appointment, a consultant spends up to 30 minutes on preparation. This means that typically 1000 words can be discussed in a session. If you send a document of more than 1000 words, please state which area in particular you want advice on.
