Musculoskeletal work-based learning

Our musculoskeletal ultrasound courses teach the skills needed by professionals looking to advance their careers.

The PgCert in musculoskeletal ultrasound, PgCert in musculoskeletal ultrasound foot and ankle and ultrasound guided injections (PH5646) have aspects of work-based learning. This imperative aspect of learning is required to cement the skills you'll learn within the classroom and then apply to a clinical population within your clinical environment. This aspect of training is organised by students and overseen by Brunel. This allows this experience to be reflective of individual students' clinical environments and flexible to their learning needs.

In module two of the PgCert in musculoskeletal ultrasound and PgCert in musculoskeletal ultrasound foot and ankle, you'll need to complete the 250 scans logbook (100 supervised, 150 unsupervised / mentored to a level commensurate with your training). During the ultrasound guided injections module, you'll need to complete 20 injections which are supervised by your mentor.

Mentor requirements for the Musculoskeletal Ultrasound PgCert and the Musculoskeletal Ultrasound Foot and Ankle PgCert are:

  • AHP who holds a CASE accredited / PgCert MSK Ultrasound with minimum 2 years experience following completion.
  • MSK Radiologist with 2 years experience using MSK ultrasound
