Research area(s)

  • Sustainable Process Systems Engineering (process simulation and modelling, process integration, low-carbon process design, carbon capture technologies)
  • Sustainable Waste Management (energy-from-waste, waste valorisation, recycling and recovery, resource efficiency)
  • Combined Techno-Economic and Life Cycle Assessment (environmental and economic performance assessment)
  • Systems Analysis and System Dynamic Modelling (system-level assessment, scenario analysis, optimisation pathways)
  • Decarbonisation and Circular Economy (policy and stakeholder analysis, waste management and net zero targets, industrial decarbonisation)

Research Interests

Research interests focus on the integrated assessment and systems-level deployment of low-carbon technologies, particularly through the combination of techno-economic (TEA) and life cycle assessment (LCA). This includes evaluating the technical, economic and environmental performance of emerging technologies and understanding their wider interactions through system dynamics modelling. Particular interest lies in connecting technology level assessment with commercial scale deployment, national targets, resource availability and infrastructure requirements. These interests focus on identifying optimisation pathways and practical strategies for successful large-scale deployment, bridging the gap between technology assessment and real-world decision-making to support the transition to net zero.
