Summary
Dr Long Chen is a Lecturer in Marketing and Programme Lead for the MSc Marketing and Consumer Analytics programme at Brunel Business School, Brunel University London. His research focuses on consumer psychology, visual communication, and the responsible use of artificial intelligence in marketing and healthcare. His work examines how visual and technological cues influence consumer perceptions, decision-making, and behavioural outcomes across digital and service environments.
His research has been published in leading international journals, including Social Science & Medicine and Information Systems Frontiers, and has been presented at major international conferences. He is currently involved in several externally funded research projects, including a National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) grant investigating accountability in medical AI services and a Marketing Trust Early Career Researcher Grant.
Dr Chen teaches across undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in marketing research methods, consumer behaviour, marketing analytics, and dissertation supervision. He has led curriculum development and module redesign initiatives that enhance student engagement, analytical capability, and employability through practice-focused learning and data analytics training.
Alongside his teaching and research activities, he serves as Departmental Lead for Academic Misconduct and Appeals within Brunel Business School. He is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA), an active reviewer for leading marketing and interdisciplinary journals, and a collaborator on international research projects spanning consumer behaviour, tourism marketing, and healthcare AI.
His current research interests include consumer psychology, visual communication, destination marketing, digital marketing analytics, human–AI interaction, responsible AI, and healthcare AI.
