Research and professional collaborations

Being an academic discipline that has a strong vocational orientation, the Accounting Department lends itself naturally to working with external organisations such as: corporations, professional firms, governments and bodies. For example, our members hold many positions including:

  • European Commission: Member of the Expert Group - Financial Services User Group
  • Special Adviser, European Federation of Accountants and Auditors for SMEs (EFAA)
  • Registry Trust Limited: Board member and Chair of the Audit and Risk management Committee
  • Financial Inclusion and Market Centre: Associate
  • Genesis Initiative: Board Member and Member of Senate
  •  EFAA: Special Adviser and a member of the Financial Reporting Expert Group
  • Finance Watch (Partly funded by the European Commission) – member of the Committee of Transparency and Independence (Governance)
  • Ethics and Trust in Finance: A Jury Member (the Jury also includes Justin Welby – The Archbishop of Canterbury)
  • EUFIN – Member of Scientific Committee

We have developed and continue to develop strong links with a variety of external organisations. It is also evident from the longstanding accredited status of our undergraduate and postgraduate programmes by accountancy bodies such as: ICAEW, ICAS, and ACCA.
