Brunel University of London will provide full tuition fees - stipend for living costs (including medical insurance), one international round trip economy class airfare between China and the UK, and reimbursement for one-off visa application fees.

This scholarship program offers academically outstanding Chinese students the opportunity to pursue a PhD at Brunel University of London. The scholarships are jointly supported by the China Scholarship Council (CSC) and Brunel University of London.

Twenty (20) full scholarships are available for PhD studies at Brunel University of London, commencing in October 2026 or January 2027. Scholarships are available in all disciplines and the list of PhD programmes can be found from Brunel’s application portal page.

Brunel University of London will provide full tuition fees (up to 48 months) for each successful candidate.

The China Scholarship Council will provide each scholarship recipient with a stipend for living costs (including medical insurance), one international round trip economy class airfare between China and the UK, and reimbursement for one-off visa application fees

Eligibility

  • Applicants must be citizens of the People's Republic of China. Overseas Chinese students may be eligible for application subject to CSC policy at the time.
  • Applicants must have a strong academic background.
  • Applicants must meet academic and English entry requirements set by the University (https://www.brunel.ac.uk/research/Research-degrees ).
  • Applicants will require a visa to enter and study in the UK (https://www.brunel.ac.uk/international/visas-and-immigration ).
  • Students currently registered for a PhD programme at Brunel University of London who commenced their PhD after January 2025 are also eligible to apply. These applicants will be considered by CSC in open competition with all other applicants. If successful, CSC Scholarship funding will start from the beginning of the second year of the PhD.

How to apply?

Before applying to CSC, applicant must have applied for and received an offer to study at Brunel on a PhD programme. These offers will be made by Brunel after assessment of all applications received by the deadline of 9 January 2026.

  1. Contact the relevant Department or staff at Brunel to identify a suitable supervisor. Applicants may contact individual academic staff directly and can find details about research expertise and staff at https://www.brunel.ac.uk/people.
  2. Apply for PhD admission online via https://www.brunel.ac.uk/research/Research-degrees/How-to-apply before the deadline of Friday 9 January 2026. Early applications are highly recommended.
  3. Applicants must specify in their online application that they will be applying for the ‘BUL/CSC Joint Scholarship Scheme’ and should include the name of the potential supervisor in their application. To do this go to the Fees and Funding section of the application form and select ‘Funded’, then select ‘China Scholarship Council (CSC)’ as your funding option.
  4. Brunel will select the applicants to be nominated to the CSC by the end of February 2026. These successful applicants will be issued with a Brunel offer letter. This offer letter must be submitted to CSC along with your application to them.
  5. Nominated applicants must then apply directly to the CSC during the application window (expect to be in March 2026). Please check the CSC’s website for details.
  6. Brunel expects to receive the list of successful candidates from CSC in late May/early June 2026.
  7. Students are expected to start their PhD studies in October 2026, or January 2027.

申请资格

  • 申请人必须是中华人民共和国公民。海外中国学生也可能有资格申请，届时请查看 CSC官方网站上的相关政策。
  • 申请人必须具有良好的学术背景。
  • 申请人必须符合伦敦布鲁内尔大学规定的学术和英语入学要求，详情请查看相关的网址（https://www.brunel.ac.uk/research/Research-degrees）。
  • 申请人需要英国签证才能进入英国和在英国学习（https://www.brunel.ac.uk/international/visas-and-immigration）。
  • 目前在伦敦布鲁内尔大学攻读博士一年级的学生，若其博士学位是在 2025 年 1 月之后开始的，也有资格申请。CSC 将通过与其他所有申请者进行公开竞争的方式考虑这些申请者。如果申请成功，CSC 奖学金将从博士学位的第二年开始发放。

如何申请

申请者向CSC提交申请之前，必须已经申请并获得攻读布鲁内尔大学博士学位的录取通知书。布鲁内尔大学将对2026年1月9日截止日期前申请的学生进行评审，然后对通过评审的学生发出录取通知书。

  1. 联系布鲁内尔大学的相关院系或者员工，确定合适的导师。学生可以直接联系学术老师，并可在 https://www.brunel.ac.uk/people 网站上找到有关各位老师的研究方向和详细信息。
  2. 在 2026 年 1 月 9 日（星期五）截至日期之前通过学校的网站https://www.brunel.ac.uk/research/Research-degrees/How-to-apply 提交网上申请。我们强烈建议学生尽早申请。
  3. 申请人必须在其在线申请中注明要申请 BUL/CSC 联合奖学金项目，并且在申请中填写意向导师的姓名。具体操作方法是前往学校网站的“学费和奖学金”页面，点击“奖学金”，然后选择国家留学基金委奖学金一项。
  4. 布鲁内尔大学将于2026年2月底选出提名CSC的学生名单，并向这些学生发放布鲁内尔大学的录取通知书。
  5. 通过布鲁内尔大学选拔的申请学生必须在申请窗口期间直接向 CSC 申请（预计为 2026 年 3 月）。详情请查看 CSC 网站。
  6. 布鲁内尔大学预计将在 2026 年 5月底到6 月初收到 CSC 通过审批的学生名单。
  7. 学生预计将于 2026 年 10 月或者2027年1月开始攻读博士学位。
