Janis Westley, Chief People and Culture Officer

Janis is Chief People and Culture Officer at Brunel, University of London. 

A Charted Fellow of the CIPD, Janis is a CEDR-accredited mediator, an active member of the Universities HR community and UCEA panel contributor. 

A lawyer by background, Janis has worked in Higher Education for over 20 years and understands the complex strategic challenges facing the sector: financial sustainability, demographic shifts in the student market, global volatility, AI, and the reshaping of the employment relationship. With a desire to create and sustain positive, inclusive and productive working environments, Janis brings both business and leadership expertise, framing dynamic change and improvement through a people lens.

Janis joined Brunel in December 2025, having previously held senior HR roles at Anglia Ruskin University, City, University of London and the University of Sheffield.
