Chemical Engineering research and PhD programmes

Chemical engineers at Brunel investigate the processing and manufacture of novel materials, such as bio-materials , polymers, phosphors and other materials for lighting devices. We develop new processes and products based upon sustainable systems informed by successful naturally occurring processes, to deliver new products and sustainable real-world solutions to current and future problems. We also conduct research into fire retardant textiles, biodegradable packaging and the formulation of biofuels and have a world leading collection of materials characterisation techniques at our disposal, including a recently commissioned transmission electron microscope.
