Careers and your future

Our Geography BSc degrees will open you to a wide range of exciting careers and opportunities.

Geography graduates are highly employable and on average receive higher salaries than many other graduates, working in a wide range of sectors and roles. You will develop highly marketable skills in, for instance, gathering and presenting data, analysing spatial and numerical data, developing a reasoned argument, critical thinking, assessing moral and ethical issues, teamwork, communication, project management, and problem-solving.

Our third year ‘Leadership for Change’ module develops advanced teamwork and leadership skills through applying your studies to a community-based project. Through the dissertation you’ll practice skills of planning and undertaking research independently.

Geographers enter careers in many areas including local and national government, the environmental sector, international development, leisure and tourism, disaster risk management, communications, transport, planning, research and academia.
