Music work placements

Our Music BA has recently introduced the option of a work placement as part of your degree, giving you the opportunity to gain industry experience to make you stand out in the job market after you graduate.

Placements are a great way to see if your future career is right for you and the perfect opportunity to improve your confidence ready for when you graduate. With the expert guidance of your personal tutor and our Professional Development Centre (PDC) you’ll be supported every step of the way to find a role that suits you and your goals.

Our Music BA programme also offers a Professional Development module that provides you with online resources to help you create a media focused CV which will help you apply for your work experience. Our BA Music’s Professional Development module allows you to find the area of music that you like whether it is backstage, working in a recording studio, working with the lights or working with sounds or in arts administration, theatres, local schools, music therapy and artist management.  Our Professional Development module has been highly successful and has helped shaped our students thinking about their careers as well as providing vital industry contacts.

Within the Professional Development module you will have classes dedicated to meeting with the university’s Job Shop. Brunel’s friendly music department provides several CV building workshops and masterclasses from industry professionals.

Our friendly and supportive academics within the music department will also happily provide you with advice on the type of work you can go into after you graduate such as session work, stock sound, film music, events management, teaching/tutoring.

You can acquire further employability skills through undertaking a social media internship working as a Social Media Coordinator or as a sound technician within the department of music. You can gain a range of employability skills by working for the university’s recruitment team as a student ambassador working at open days and giving tours of the music department.
