Research area(s)

My research and professional interests centre on assessment design in medical education, particularly workplace-based and clinical skills assessment. I have led the design, delivery, and evaluation of novel assessments including the RCPCH's START (Specialty Trainee Assessment of Readiness for Tenure) and OSCE standard-setting methodology.

My published work spans competency-based assessment, borderline groups standard setting, and postgraduate examination design.

I have published clinical case reports and reviews on paediatric topics including neonatal line positioning, and pyloric stenosis genetics, alongside several BMJ commentaries and rapid-response letters.

I am co-editor of Clinic Cases in Paediatrics (Jaypee Medical Publishing, 2025), the second edition of our paediatric outpatient manual, a 100-chapter outpatient reference text for trainees.
