Inspirational alumni in Politics

Whether you feel your future lies within the political arena or further afield, see what our alumni have gone on to achieve and how we supported them.

Our engaging politics course content offers a wide variety of modules which, teamed with the skills you develop through practical learning, have set many graduates on their road to success. Politics at Brunel boasts some high profile alumni in the UK Parliament working as MPs such as Shadow Chancellor John McDonnell, former Shadow Transport Spokesperson John Leech and former Parliamentary Under Secretary of State at the Ministry of Justice Claire Ward.

However don’t be fooled, if you have a degree in politics you don’t just have to aim to be an MP. Here at Brunel we view politics as science so, although you’ll learn the theory, we’ll help you develop skills in critical thought and quantitative research methods that will open you up to a host of job opportunities from data science to marketing and research.

My best memory of studying at Brunel was winning the NUS / Daily Mirror Diversity Award for my writing’s in the Route 66 magazine

Some of my fondest memories were the very friendly (but frank) debates with my tutors. A genuine challenge of ideas and a real freedom to debate.
