No application is needed for the Brunel Graduate Discount; our funding team evaluates each applicant automatically.

A 15% discount on the net tuition fee (i.e., the tuition charge after applying for any scholarship or bursary fee exemptions) will be given to self-funding university graduates who have earned their desired award and enrol in any future degree program.  This is applicable to students who enrol in postgraduate taught programs or additional undergraduate programs. a PhD or postgraduate research program, a third-party online program, the PGCE program, and the Graduate Diploma in Law (CPE).

Eligible students, who are funding their studies with a career development loan SLC Tuition Fee Loan, an SLC Postgraduate Loan, SLC Doctoral Loan or a scholarship/bursary fee waiver, are considered self-funding for the purpose of this discount.

Students whose tuition fees are paid by a third party, either partially or in full, are not usually eligible for the graduate discount.

What automated awards are available to international postgraduate applicants?

The Vice Chancellors Academic Excellence Scholarship and the Postgraduate International Bursary are the two automated awards that we currently offer postgraduate international applicants (please note that these cannot be combined). An applicant is automatically considered and awarded if they meet the eligibility requirements and pay their course deposit by the dates indicated in the terms and conditions.

Please send an email to Scholarships@brunel.ac.uk with evidence of payment date if you paid your deposit before the deadline and have not received a response. Our staff will then determine whether you qualify.

More information and full terms and conditions can be found on our webpage: www.brunel.ac.uk/scholarships

I am applying for sponsorship or a scholarship to help pay for my tuition. Do I still need to pay a deposit?

Applying for sponsorship (or a financial guarantee)

No, you don't have to pay the deposit. As proof that you have fulfilled the deposit requirement, we will be able to accept appropriate documentation of your sponsorship. As soon as you obtain documentation proving your sponsorship, you should upload it to your eVision myApplication portal. After that, our Student Finance team will get this from our Admissions team and determine whether it is appropriate. If so, we will send you an email to let you know that we have fulfilled your deposit need and amend your record to reflect this.

Applying for a scholarship

You are exempt from paying the deposit if you have been granted a full scholarship. As proof that you fulfilled the deposit requirement, we will be able to accept appropriate documentation of your scholarship grant. As soon as you have any supporting documentation for your confirmed scholarship, you should upload it to your eVision myApplication site.  After that, our admissions teams will forward this to our student finance or scholarship teams, who will determine whether it is appropriate. If so, we will send you an email to let you know that we have fulfilled your deposit need and amend your record to reflect this.

You will have to pay the course deposit if you were given a partial scholarship.

My scholarship or sponsorship won't be confirmed until after the deposit deadline. How should I proceed?

Applying for sponsorship (or a financial guarantee)

For a lot of our courses this will not be a problem, and so long as you provide evidence of your confirmed sponsorship with enough time for us to prepare any Confirmation of Acceptance of Study (CAS) you might need we will be able to confirm your place on the course.

However, there are some courses which may be oversubscribed, and unfortunately we cannot guarantee we can hold a place for you while you wait to provide evidence of your sponsorship. Nonetheless, we will try to help you if we can.

As such, all applicants who have been awarded a scholarship or sponsorship should let us know by emailing the Admissions Office and providing as much information as possible.

We will keep a record of your sponsorship and if we can reserve a place for you. Again, we cannot guarantee we can do this, so to avoid any disappointment you may want to consider paying a deposit instead.

Applying for a scholarship

If you have applied for an external scholarship and are waiting for a decision it is unlikely you will be notified on the outcome of your scholarship application by our deadline to pay a deposit. Although most external scholarships are not confirmed until the summer, Brunel supports these scholarship schemes and we aim to honour the places of all students who are fully awarded the scholarship. If your chosen course is likely to fill up early we do recommend you consider your options fully and make a deposit payment in order to secure your place. It is important to note that if you are later awarded a full scholarship the deposit payment will be refunded. However, if this is not feasible you should wait till you get the outcome of your scholarship application but please keep in mind that if you are not awarded the scholarship there may not be any places left on the course.

If you need more information about this, please contact the Scholarships Team on Scholarships@brunel.ac.uk who can advise you further.

Who do I contact if I have a query about a scholarship?
