Enrichment Activities

Study English at Brunel and participate in enrichment activities that help you develop your skills and confidence, and build your CV.

As a student on our undergraduate (BA), taught postgraduate (MA), or PhD programme, you can access a range of enrichment activities outside the classroom, which will help you develop skills and confidence as you build your CV.

On-campus activities include book clubs, writing workshops, and author events, including those featuring Creative Writing academics like Dr Hannah Lowe, and Professors Bernadine Evaristo and Daljit Nagra. You can become a Student Ambassador, write for student-produced local newspaper the Hillingdon Herald, or contribute to Death By PowerPoint: a horror-comedy movie written and produced by Brunel Creative Writing academics Dr Frazer Lee and Dr Max Kinnings, due to be filmed in 2024. During the filming, Brunel students and staff will be given the opportunity to work alongside the creative team, professional cast and crew gaining key work experience and transferable skills across several film industry disciplines. The Brunel Film Lab programme will allow students to gain invaluable professional development and training via the University’s locations, technology, and state-of-the art equipment.

Studying within easy reach of central London means that you’ll be close to landmarks of literary culture, including the British Library, Shakespeare’s Globe, West End theatres, the Charles Dickens and Sherlock Holmes Museums, the Feminist Library, the Poetry Library, bookshops including Foyles and Gay’s the Word, and the South Bank Centre, which hosts the annual London Literature Festival.
