Research supervision

Dr Swash has supervised more than twenty doctoral researchers to successful completion, spanning autonomous systems, advanced 3D imaging and display, deep learning for perception and gesture sensing, immersive media, additive manufacturing, and AI applications in industry. His supervision philosophy combines deep technical rigour with a commitment to building research that translates into real world impact, drawing on both his academic record and his experience of deploying advanced research into industrial systems at scale.

He welcomes enquiries from prospective doctoral researchers whose interests align with his areas of expertise, particularly those working on embodied AI, robotics foundation models, multi sensor fusion, precision spatial sensing, autonomous digital twinning, immersive technologies, and the translation of advanced sensing and learning into safety critical real world systems.
