Games Design undergraduate courses

This is a fun, hands-on course. You don’t need to be a programmer or an artist, although you can be. You’ll combine your passion for games with studying games theory and practice. There’s plenty of time for you to play games, have the opportunity to explore why they matter and discover what makes them great. You’ll work on the design of games, taking ideas from concept to completion, and consider their rules. We’re in the top three for every major theme, including learning opportunities, assessment and feedback, academic support, organisation and management, learning resources, and student voice (National Student Survey 2025).

Gaming is about so much more than play. Our Games Design BA starts with a core year of teaching to give you a grounding in the necessary skills before you begin to specialize in the second year.

Games Design and Creative Writing BA

This combination of the excellent BA Creative Writing and Games Design at Brunel University will allow you to develop your own writing skills as well as equip you for a career applying them in the games industry.

The equipment is fantastic. The gaming labs are open 24/7 and they’re full of high-specification computers. We also have a room full of board games, where you can go to study or have some quiet time.
