Partnerships and Power Dynamics in Sport for Development: Implications for Capacity Building

Partnerships play a significant role in Sport for Development (SfD) initiatives, yet they often involve complex power dynamics that affect decision-making, resource allocation and ultimately may impact capacity building within organisations. This PhD will examine how partnership structures, mechanisms, social capital and power dynamics influence capacity building outcomes in SfD. Using qualitative or mixed-method approaches, the research will investigate the interplay between power, trust and capacity. The findings will hope to inform theory and practice in SfD.
