Qualifications: BEng, PhD

Dr Habiba Lais received the Ph.D. degree in Mechanical Engineering, specialising in the development of a non-invasive ultrasonic cleaning technique, from Brunel University London in 2019.

Habiba enrolled at Brunel University London in 2011 to pursue Engineering with an Integrated Foundation year and progressed onto Aerospace Engineering. She completed an industrial placement year 2014/15 at Brunel Innovation Centre (BIC) as a Project Technical Assistant. During her time at BIC, Habiba worked on InnovateUK funded fouling removal projects using high power ultrasonic transducers.

In 2016, Habiba recevied a First Class Honours in Aerospace Engineering B.Eng. with Professional Development. Upon graduation, she returned to BIC as an NSIRC PhD student (finded by EPSRC and accredited by Brunel University London), to continue research in non-invasive fouling removal using ultrasonics, whilst assisting on related InnovateUK projects.

Habiba joined BIC in 2018 as a research Assistant to continue her research in ultrasonic cleaning for off-shore applications.

Her research features a wide scope of disciplines to include ultrasonic transducers, vibration analysis, simulations and bubble dynamics. Habiba has authored in several peer-reviewed journals and conferences; Most notably in Ultrasonics Sonochemistry, a leading international journal in the field of acoustics and ultrasonics.
