This flexible, part‑time postgraduate programme is tailored to support busy professionals like you. You’ll engage in a blended learning model that combines live online seminars, self‑paced digital content, and face‑to‑face workshops in Brunel’s specialist facilities. You’ll build a professional portfolio and complete a quality improvement project, ensuring your learning is directly applied to your clinical context and evidenced for career progression.

Course content
Throughout this programme, you'll build the essential clinical knowledge, leadership capability, and educational confidence to develop as a capable and reflective enhanced practitioner in pelvic health.
A central focus is on clinical practice, where you'll gain a deep understanding of theories and methods relevant to specialist care. You'll learn to apply this knowledge in assessment, diagnosis, and management across diverse populations, including those with complex conditions. The programme emphasises professional judgment, autonomy, and safe, effective care, while also developing your skills in research, audit, and critical appraisal to support evidence-based decision-making and service improvement.
You'll learn how to carry out comprehensive pelvic health assessments, including vaginal and anorectal examinations, delivered within legal, ethical, and consent frameworks. The course equips you to assess and manage a wide range of nonmechanical pelvic floor dysfunctions, including multi-system presentations such as pelvic pain, incontinence, prolapse, and conditions like endometriosis. You'll develop an advanced understanding of pelvic anatomy, pathophysiology, and the psychosocial dimensions of care, applying this knowledge through holistic, person-centred clinical reasoning.
This course will help you strengthen your communication, collaboration, and advocacy skills. We'll help build your confidence in managing sensitive conversations with patients and their families and learn how to work effectively across disciplines. This includes understanding how to escalate concerns appropriately in areas such as safeguarding, trauma-informed care, and FGM, while actively promoting equity, inclusivity, and high standards of care in pelvic health across all systems.

This module aims to enhance the confidence, capability, and educational expertise of professionals involved in the development of current and future health and care workforces. It is designed for individuals in diverse roles, including but not limited to allied health professions, nursing, midwifery, and other related fields, across a range of settings both local and international. Participants will build a robust foundation in contemporary educational theories and practical teaching strategies, with an emphasis on supervision, and the facilitation of inclusive learning for a wide variety of learners. These include students, new graduates, internationally educated practitioners, and other professionals. Grounded in current evidence and pedagogical theory, the module promotes dynamic and innovative approaches to teaching, learning, and assessment. Students will explore strategies for delivering inclusive, culturally responsive, and learner-centred education, enabling them to create safe, enabling and equitable learning environments where their learners can flourish. The module also emphasises the development of effective supervision practices, reflective learning, and individualised support, strengthening the educator’s role as a facilitator of professional growth, workforce development, and high-quality care in diverse healthcare contexts.

The Enhanced Clinical Leadership module is designed for healthcare professionals looking to advance their careers by developing their leadership skills within their specific areas of practice. This module aims to cultivate leaders who are confident, inclusive, and supportive, contributing to a culture of continuous improvement in healthcare settings.
Participants will learn to critically evaluate the impact of their own leadership behaviours, gaining the confidence and skills necessary to become effective leaders. The focus will be on fostering inclusivity and support within their teams, thereby contributing to a positive and progressive work culture.
Additionally, the module will equip participants with the ability to use critically informed, evidence-based approaches in their leadership roles. They will learn to advocate for and lead both operational and transformational changes in complex situations and systems, applying best practices to drive improvement and innovation in their respective fields.
- PH56100 - Enhanced Clinical Practice
This module is designed to provide healthcare professionals with a critical understanding of the theory and practice in specialised areas of pelvic health. Students will learn how to apply this knowledge to the assessment, diagnosis, and management of patients across different populations, often dealing with complex conditions in unpredictable environments. By integrating principles of anatomy, biomechanics, pathophysiology, and psychosocial factors, this course will foster the development of expertise in key clinical areas of pelvic health. Emphasising the importance of professional judgment and decision-making, the module aims to empower practitioners to assume higher levels of autonomy and responsibility in managing their own caseloads within pelvic health.
Furthermore, students will be guided in delivering safe, person-centred care, with a strong emphasis on clinical reasoning, decision-making, and risk management. Hold a pre-registration degree in a relevant allied health profession and 1 year clinical work experience within your registered healthcare profession.
You must be employed and have evidence of employer commitment to support training and supervision.
EU and International entry requirements
If you require a Tier 4 visa to study in the UK, you must prove knowledge of the English language so that we can issue you a Certificate of Acceptance for Study (CAS). To do this, you will need an IELTS for UKVI or Trinity SELT test pass gained from a test centre approved by UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) and on the Secure English Language Testing (SELT) list. This must have been taken and passed within two years from the date the CAS is made.

Assessment and feedback
Your progress is assessed through a variety of coursework-based methods, designed to reflect real-world clinical practice and support your professional development. There are no written exams. Instead, the course uses assessments that support your practical learning, encourage critical thinking, and demonstrate your ability to work at an enhanced level of clinical practice. All assessments are supported by academic supervision and feedback, helping you to grow in confidence as both a clinician and a learner.
Assessment methods include:
- Work-based portfolios documenting applied learning, clinical reflections, and development of skills in your own setting
- Written assignments including critical reflections, clinical reasoning pieces, and evidence-based case studies
- Presentations where you’ll present a service improvement plan or clinical project to peers and academic staff
- Teaching and coaching tasks planning and delivering an educational intervention, with a reflective evaluation
- Service development projects aligned with quality improvement principles, focusing on an area of need within your workplace
